Athletics Nova Scotia is offering a Sport Coach course from November 28-30. This course allows the coach to gain a basic understanding of all event areas in track & field (sprints/hurdles, endurance, jumps, throws) as well as developing knowledge on athlete development, training design, strength training, Long Term Athlete Development and many other topics. The primary context of this course is aimed at coaches working with athletes aged 12-16 years of age. For more information, please see below.
The Lung Association of Nova Scotia, in partnership with Athletics Nova Scotia, is hosting a wheelchair race on the runway at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport on October 4th, 2014.
The race will be a 5km out and back and will feature regional and national wheelchair racers. The race will also be open to first time racers and day chair users.
Registration for the Runway Run is $50 and includes an Event T-Shirt and Door Prices. Please Register for the race at: www.ns.lung.ca
Athletics NS is now seeking interest for coach presenters as well as a camp leader for our 2015 Local March Break Training Camp. After a very successful 2014, we hope to expand both our presenters and number of athletes involved in this initiative. Please see below for more information.

Athletics NS is now accepting applications for staff coaches and manager(s) for the 2017 NS Canada Games Team. Both of these positions will work alongside recently selected, Head Coach Ueli Albert. Please see below for more information on these roles and note the application deadline of Friday, October 3rd.
On September 17th at 7:00pm at the Canada Games Center our first Podium Performance session of the fall will kick off featuring Scott Wilgress, Strength & Conditioning coach for the Canadian Sport Center Atlantic. Scott’s presentation will be a practical approach to building a yearly training program. Those who register for the session will receive a yearly training program template by email to be started by each coach prior to the session and will be worked on during the session. Our goal is to provide a practical opportunity for coaches to put their training information in a easy to use tool to guide their work with there athletes. Athletics NS is currently seeking applicants for the role of Director of Coaching.This is a term position, from October 2014 to May 2015 ONLY. Those available full time during this period will be given priority. If a full time person is not available, duties of the role will be contracted out on an hourly basis.
