Please note that hotel rooms are difficult to find in Halifax during this time so make your reservations early!

SMU Rice Residence
There are fifteen (15) apartments reserved in our Rice Residence for arrival on July 5 and departure on July 7. The nightly rate is $118.15/apartment. All rates include breakfast, housekeeping, linen, towels, parking, access to the Tower Athletic Facility (for guests over 16 years of age) and taxes.

Residence check in is anytime after 3:00pm and check-out is by 11:00am on the day of your departure. Early arrivals or late departures can be arranged with sufficient notice. The residence check-in desk is located on the 1st floor of the Loyola Building, 5865 Gorsebrook Avenue. It is opene 24-hours a day and can be reached at (902) 420-5049.

In our Rice Residence, a 17-storey high-rise, there are six furnished apartments per floor. An apartment consists of two bedrooms, kitchen, small living/dining room area and bathroom. Each bedroom is furnished with two captain's-style single beds, two desks, shelves, lamp, drawers and closet space. One apartment houses four people. All linen and towels are supplied, but dishes and kitchen utensils are not. There are two elevators in this residence.

The residence complex houses a ATM bank machine (Royal Bank), hair salon, barber shop, convenience store, Tim Horton's, residence dining hall and two laundromats. Most buildings on campus connect to the residences.

Accommodations
We require payment of your account upon check-in to residence. Payment can be made with cash, Interact, Visa, MasterCard or Travellers Cheques.

Food Service
The university caterer, Aramark Campus Services, provides all food service on campus.
For groups with confirmed meal numbers of 50 or more, we also offer the Summer Conference Meal Plan served in the dining hall. The plan features a choice of two entrées at lunch and three at dinner, vegetable(s), potato or rice, plus the following unlimited items: soup du jour, salad bar, fresh fruit, assorted desserts and beverages. Our 2007 prices are listed below but do not include 15% HST:
Lunch: $7.46
Dinner: $9.43

Parking
For guests staying in accommodations on campus, parking is provided at no additional charge. The Arena parking lot is located on the corner of Inglis Street and Tower Road. Please pick up your Parking Pass from the Front Desk upon arrival and display it in the front windshield of your vehicle.

For Guests not in Accommodation
As a conference organizer, you have the option of either pre-purchasing passes or having your delegates purchase them on their own. Pre-purchasing and distribution is our recommended option. Passes are $5.00 a day and can be obtained at the Facilities Management Department, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm, located on the 1st floor basement of the McNally Building, Room 001 (south side of building - directly across from the Sobey Building). Please let us know which option you would like to offer your group.
Free evening parking is available, Monday to Friday, after 5:00pm in spaces designated as "general" and in "faculty" spaces after 8:00pm. On weekends, all parking spaces can be used. There is no overnight parking permitted.
