Warm Weather Camp - Coaches and Chaperones

Athletics NS is seeking interested coaches and chaperones to attend a warm weather training camp with a group of NS athletes this coming March. Please see below for more information and application.

Athletics NS Warm Weather Training Camp – Chaperones and Coaches

Athletics NS will begin hosting a provincially organized warm weather training camp. The need for a warm weather camp as well as local training during the winter months has been identified in the Athletics NS strategic planning process as important elements that are currently not in place. The warm weather training camp idea is not a new idea as most you know. Clubs within the province have been taking advantage of this programming opportunity for approximately a decade. More recently, local training camps have been integrated into programming at the club level. The positive impact of the training camp environment have been noted throughout the duration of the existence of these camps by both athletes, coaches as well as general performance. The positive impact of such camps has been noted in many other Nova Scotia sport associations as well, not just track and field.

For the logistics of this initiative to work, we need a number of coaches and chaperones (number dependant on group size) to oversee the group while on site in Florida. Major responsibilities include:

Coaches:
Overseeing athlete training provided by personal coaches on a day to day basis
Ensuring athletes are prepared for competitive opportunity during the camp
Helping with transport to and from training venue
Organizing meet entries and training times

Chaperones:
Oversee day to day activities while at the group’s accommodations
Overseeing meal preparation by athletes
Ensuring all household items required for stay are available
Helping with athlete transport
