Legion Track and Field Program
Legion's

The Royal Canadian Legion Track and Field Program is a nationally sanctioned event that is divided into two age categories during the three-day meet. Additionally, providing educational and/or technical clinics for both coaches and athletes. This year, the meet will be held in Ottawa, Ontario from August 4-10. Athletes may qualify to compete either under the provincial team or compete as an independent athlete if they have met the qualifying standard and are a member of Athletics Nova Scotia. National and provincial athletics associations have described this program as one of the best in existence and some rate it as international caliber. The success of the athletes who have attended seems to bear this out. At the Los Angeles Olympics alone, all the Canadian medal winners had attended Legion camps. The Legion's monetary donation to support Team Nova Scotia is in the range of $40,000.00, covering all the aspects of the weeklong National Championship event. Our athletes are responsible only for the cost of their uniforms, the provincial training camp and attendance at the Atlantic Championships (approximately $350 per athlete).
